Two giants of cinema, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, team up to bring Hergé’s comic book characters to life. Tintin (Jamie Bell) finds a clue to an ancient treasure that belonged to Captain Haddock’s (Andy Serkis) ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. They set out to find it with a small team: protection from a jail escapee and Detective Thompson and Thomson (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost), as well as scientific advice from Professor Calculus.
Tintin uses motion-capture to bring the actors to life. Weta Digital in Wellington will be working their magical computerised wonders. Says Jackson, “We’re making them look photorealistic; the fibers of their clothing, the pores of their skin and each individual hair. They look exactly like real people – but real Herge people.”
The Adventures of Tintin won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film.
